Our counseling services are at the heart of Neurodiverse Counseling. Making the decision to begin working with a therapist can be challenging. Mixed emotions and feelings of uncertainty are normal. Our goal is to be your guide on the path to self-fulfillment and wellbeing. We want to see you through the storm, not just in it.

What You Can Expect from Counseling

Intake ProcessDuring the counseling intake process, a clinical interview helps your therapist gather critical information that can shape treatment approaches and enable you to reach your goals. It may take two to three initial meetings to complete this process. You will be asked about your personal history and life experiences. In addition, you will be asked to complete a few clinical assessments that will help the therapist understand your current functioning during these meetings.

Furthermore, you can assess whether the therapist would be a suitable fit for you during the intake process. In essence, this is the time for you to interview the therapist. This will ensure they are the most suitable fit for you and start to determine what you hope to accomplish with counseling. It is recommended that you interview several counselors so you can find the one you are most comfortable with.

Sessions – Initial intake sessions last 60 minutes. Counseling sessions are 45 minutes long. Most counseling sessions with children and adolescents will be individual meetings; however, some sessions may involve parents, guardians, siblings, and other family members significant in the client’s life.

Cancellation & Missed Appointments

Time set aside for evaluations, counseling and coaching is not easily filled when appointments are canceled without timely notice. Neurodiverse Counseling has a strict 48-hour cancellation policy. You will be expected to pay for appointments that are not canceled with at least 48 hours' notice; clients will be charged the therapist's hourly rate.
